Question on M lenses and NEX 5n or 7

I understand that you can mount Leica glass to NEX camera bodies. How exactly is it done? Is it an adapter that mounts on the body, to which any Leica lens could be mounted, or is it an adapter that mounts on the Lens and you would have to swap it out constantly or buy one for each lens you want to use? Or does each focal lens need a different adapter to mount on the lens?

I am certain that I will buy either a GXR with an M module or a NEX (maybe 5n, probably 7) in the next month or so. I don't understand the mounting choices yet.

There are many adapters for the NEX system, Leica M, Leica R, Nikon, LTM... Voitalnder makes a pricey one, but you can find them on ebay.

I also am eager to mount my M lenses on a NEX system. Need a lightweight travel system without the worries of film.

novoflex can adapt almost anything. There might be less pricey manufacturers somewhere.

Simply put, it is an adapter that changes the M mount into an E mount (or, if you mount the adapter to the body, you're changing the E mount to an M mount.) You can mount the adapter to the body and use it like an M mount camera, or you can buy one for each of your lenses, although I don't really see the point it that.

Its just like using LTM to M mount assorted you've surely used, except they are both bayonet mounts, making them much easier and quicker to use.

What I want to see is the image quality of the NEX-7 with Leica-M lenses compare to the Ricoh GXR A12 M-Module, both is terms of "corner issues" and considering the fact that the GXR M-Module has no AA filter.

The other thing is to compare the ease vs obstructiveness of manual focusing. WIth the much higher resolution of the NEX-7 EVF it may be possible to focus directly without using the focus peaking assist function. We'll see.
