Question re Scala and Vuescan

This is an esoteric question but I'm sure that the knowledge here is deep enough. I am looking for tips on how to scan Scala with Vuescan. Here are the choices....

1) Scan as an image (in color) and then convert to greyscale
2) Scan as an image (in B&W)
3) Scan as a slide in color and then convert
4) Scan as a slide in B&W

Any suggestions? My inclination is probably #1 above.

Scan as all four, see which is best...

I'd put my money on number 1, although if you really are as anal as me, you'll do number 3 and spend several minutes (hours if it's new to you) tweaking the film base color. You must have the lock exposure, film base, and image color buttons checked to do so, however.

I've always done #3, as Jan said.. but I use Nikon Scan, which came with my CS V
