goodmorning
Newbie
For better or worse I have resisted joining this group (staying true to my non-joining instincts) until now- I have a question about replacing the rubber around the viewfinder eyepiece. Mine has torn due to my handling, bagging and generally using this as a working camera in environments as divirse as the beaches of Puerto Rico and the waste treatment facilities of San Francisco. I must say that the camera has held up well to real use and I am evidentally fortunate in receiving a solid camera with none of the problems others have written about.
My hope is that one of you may be able to point me towards a source for the part rather than sending the body away for a "repair". Hell, I realigned the viewfinder after a particularly hard knock- how hard can it be to replace a rubber eyepiece?

killer of threads
I'm lost as to the meaning of both posts. Is it sarcasm? Forgetfullness? What is the question in the first post?

He wants to know how to replace his camera's deteriorated rubber-covered eyepiece ring.
Maybe the second post just means he used the search function to find the thread that points out that the eyepieces for the R-D 1, Bessa R3a, Zeiss Ikon, and Nikon FM/FE are all interchangeable.

exactly!
exactly!
what jlw said, i was viewiing this on my laptop's little screen and missed the previous posts addressing this topic (although i can be both sarcastic and forgetful). now I have a new question- what of those of us who want to update our firmware in June but don't want to shell out for CS2? And are on Macs. Will Lightroom work with the new files? what is a useful RAW utility that offers "contact sheeting"? I have been working with the Epson software and a PS droplet automation thing. It leaves the ability to view proofs w/o conversion to my daydreams. I came in from a job last week with three full cards- it would have been nice to sort through without running through all of the images conversions....

goodmorning, good evening!
I usually use Raw Shooter Essentials to view the ERF files - it's very flexible. Another one I use is Capture One LE from Phase One. Both are available as an inexpensive download.
The browsing in RSE is better than C1, IMHO

Lightroom does work with the R-D1, although I understand that there were some functionality problems between Adobe programs and the R-D1s, which is the firmware-updated version of the R-D1. That is apparently being addressed, or has been fixed, with an update or a plug-in for ACR.
Anyway, I have Lightroom Beta2 on my computer and I'm swaiting anxiously for Beta3, as I think Beta2 is about to expire. But it's a great program, and I plan to buy it the minute it comes out as a commercial program.
