am thinking of getting one, looks like a fine camera and it would be cheaper than a mamiya 7...

Nope.
Fantastic lens and usually I use my Minolta VI for metering the subject.
at least I know what I'm doing.

How important is the "feel" of the camera to you? It's quite bulky - I had one for a while and never enjoyed using it, in comparison to the Mamiya 6. Also, the shutter is very loud. No issue with the images themselves though.

interesting.
i still havent made up my mind. the mamiya 7 does seem like a perfect camera. medium format is a big move though, i would have to spend about $200 on a scanner, the mamiya kit would probably be $1500 and then there is still film to buy. recently my photography seems to be begging for more detail though... i want a medium format digital rangefinder... ;-)

There's an image showing the size of an early 690 compared with a Leica M3 here:

after handling shutterflower's rf645, i saw that it definitely has the best viewfinder and build quality of the mf rangefinders. both it and the mamiyas will attract attention for being such large and strange cameras, even though their shutters are inaudible outdoors.

either way, it doesn't matter for such a camera.
