As the viewfinder of the older M bodies scratches glass easily, I thought of a quick fix i.e. applying a thin layer of double duty top coat nail polish (its transparent in color). Would like to check if any of you guys had tried it before 🙄

I have read that many users actually apply a layer of liquid electrical tape too.

I have used liquid electrical tape. It comes off easily, which is good and bad. The DAG plastic rings are expensive but great. CameraQuest used to offer little leatherette rings that stick on. They were great, too, but no longer available. If you're handy you can get green felt from a hardware store and cut it to fit. There was also a recent thread here about the E-cylpse which is available from Pophoto. Never tried that one.

nobody ever mentions moleskin when this comes up, that would be cheap and easy to just cut yourself and re apply every few days depnding upon how hard you use the camera.

Just piling on in favor of DAG's plastic. I did a lot of reading and comparing before trying several -- DAG's seem to be more permanent, thinner, unobtrusive. Those seemed advantages over liquid electrical tape and other surface mounted adhesives. Now I can use non-glass glasses (easy to scratch) without a worry.
