Quietest film point and shoot?

The quietest camera I've ever used is an Ilford Advocate but it's manual, scale focus, so it probably doesn't fit your criteria. Just a thought.

Cheers,

R.
Mine is more than quiet Roger, except at 1/200, when there is just a sharp click. The other speeds virtually nothing!!!

I agree... my Kodak Retina is the quietest camera I've ever owned. I'd give it a tie with the Konica Hexar AF. The little Retina's have very nice lenses and their leaf shutters make almost zero noise.. perfect for Sunday at church. :)

Mu quietest point and shoot is the Samsung ECX1. i think what noise it does make is muffled by its immense size. ;)

It could be so. Quietest motorwind P&S I know is Konica Off-road Wide 28 (probably also other models from this series). Guess it's because of large sealed body and non-retracting lens (it moves internally) it works very quietly compared to other compacts.

My wife bought and Olympus er mew is the phonetic pronunciation for it bu I think it is Olympus Stylus in the US. Great little camera.

Has anyone here actually encountered this breaking ribbon cable problem of the Leica Minilux? Is this a real issue or something that's been sort of blown out of proportion?

Not sure what that is, but I had a Minilux that had to have the shutter repaired twice within a short time frame.

Yeah, I think the XA is one of the quieter cameras around but like I said, point and shoot, I got plenty of manual focus cameras that I could use, but I find a special place in my heart for the mindlessness of using a point and shoot where I am not thinking about details and just shooting photos.

Might check out a Yashica T4, I hear its the same as the T5? There are a few T5's floating around that are kind of cheap.

XA2, XA3... :)
