R-D1 serial numbers

Anyone on this forum know of any R-D1's worldwide with serial number above 5000?

Nope.

I sent my 004600 in for repairs a couple of weeks ago. We'll see what I get back.

I sent out 004600 and got back 001871 today.

Incidentally, I've noticed several posts where people have been shy about giving the full serial number of their camera. Why is that? It's not a great secret or anything, is it?

I've often wondered the same thing but I do like to keep a certain bit of privacy.

I had 1957, and then another one (I posted the serial here a while ago, i forger at the moment) and now I have 4630.

The only reason I can think of for secreting your serial away would be so you can sell a bum R-D1 on ebay and not get caught in a scam with leftover forum messages.

How is 4630 working out for you? Mine is in the 4680's and is near perfect, while Andy's 4600 was a dog.
