Hi guys, i must apologize. I have been using R-D1s for almost a year and i never started any thread in this section of the forum until now that i am selling it. I have posted the ads in the classfied section here for $1550 USD and Kijiji Toronto for $1650 CAD.
I got few response with offers, so i believe i have over-priced it. What price do you guys think is reasonable for camera in this condition? (9 month old, no functionality issue, 3300 actuations, a little cos-wear, extra original battery)
Really love this camera but recently getting a little financial trouble, so I hope i can get it out faster ... plz let me know what the reasonable price that you guys think it should be, Thanks alot.

I think it would go quickly at $1100, maybe $1200. People ask a lot for these, but, IMO, that's a reasonable range. eBay prices are a little higher (~ $1300)- if you want to go that route.
Or if you want to trade for a Panasonic G1 with M adapter plus cash send me a PM

I am in the market and would pay $1300 for one in that condition. Nothing personal, but with your recent joining of RFF, I am a little leery of getting ripped off. That has happened a few times lately for both buyer and seller.
I have bought a few items on here from long time users with no problems. You might find some way to reduce those fears for any buyer, I can't tell you what though.

yeah i totally understand, i also got $1200 ripped off once by a guy from the States about a year ago.
The trusting relationship nowadays is terrible in comparison to half century ago or earlier, esp after internet is popularized, sigh. I don't know how i can reduce those fears other than accumulating feedbacks, which seems to be a little paradoxical that only people who have constant cycling of their equipments get the trust. Anyway, i guess i will wait to see if that buyer is confirmed, if my only option is lower it to $1300 , i guess i will try my best to overcome the current trouble and keep this camera.
Thank you for the opinion.

Hi nahlene, don't worry, you are asking a very fair price. You will get what you are asking for if you be patient. Your R-D1s is in excellent condition so you should ask for premium price for it. I paid $1400 for mine and it is in nowhere near your camera's condition.
Good luck on the sale.

This question of value is very relevant to me, as I am trying to decide if I should sell some gear and begin hunting for an affordable R-D1 or go with something better and more cost-effective. The bottom line seems to be that it's easy to spend less and get more with another camera, but for the desire to have a RF and one that takes Leica M-mount lenses. I am concerned about repairs in the future and the fact that even many point and shoots have more advanced sensors. However, even older sensor technology can obviously capture beautiful pictures, and that's what counts. So my personal price range is probably closer to $1,000, but your camera should go for more being in such great condition. If it's worth more to you than it is to others, then keep it.

I gave my only digital camera (GRD) to my grandson for graduation present, and am looking for a replacement. I am looking for a reason to NOT buy an E-P1. I would rather have the long term value of an R-D1. Price is an issue for me and I was answering the original question with what fits me. I think OP should hang on to the camera if possible.

To the buyer, the trust factor raises the value of the camera, so as a seller, you may want to take steps to assure the buyer that you are trustworthy. For example, offering to go through an escrow service (escrow.com) is a nice token of good faith. Seller and buyer can agree to escrow terms, and split the cost of the escrow. There are obviously other ways to increase that trust factor.

Personally as long as the sellers take Paypal CC payment, I will have no problem doing business with them. Yes, I also had bad experience couple time but as soon as I told the sellers I will file dispute with Paypal and CC company, and file complain with FBI Internet Fraud division, the sellers always refund my money or send the items right away.
You just need to know how to protect yourself when buy from forum.

There are a no of R-D1's in the classifieds now. Asking price is 1300-1400 for a normal issue item, and over 1800 for a rather special unit.

There's one in the Pentax forums, from Canada and looking to sell locally. selling an RD-1s, two CV lenses (35/2.5 and 29/1.9) and a Domke f-5xb bag all for C$1800... a very good deal
