He seems to have good feedbackl, in particular for the R-D1s. You might also check out this guy:

He is selling both new and used (Mint) R-D1 and R-D1s. I bought a (hopefully) mint used one from him, since he said it had no problems whatsoever. We shall see after it arrives.

In any case, both sellers seem to have good feedback for high value items. My camera was shipped the day I paid for it. It's not here yet, but the tracking link says its on its way.

Ira

Yea I had looked at him too. Its not that I dont trust the sellers in this case. My worries lay more with the high amount of R-D1's that have poor initial build. Would the R-D1s have that same problem and if so how would I get it serviced?

No, but I bought one from this place: http://cgi.ebay.com/EPSON-R-D1s-RD-1s-RD1s-Body-Rangefinder-Digital-Camera_W0QQitemZ150060296851QQihZ005QQcategoryZ30020QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

My shutter stopped working after 60-70 expos and my camera was new and sealed in box. I sent it back to him and he is shipping me a new one today. I dont think there is any problem with buying one from sell2ppl. I have seen that he has sold a couple of the Rd-1s before, but beware you will get no warranty in USA or Europe so you have to send it back to Japan for the warranty or use DAG. If you get a ****ty camera it can cost you alot in shipping to Japan if it need repairs.

Sorry but who is DAG?

Don is a prince. He's done a lot of repair/modifications for me on Leica, Hexar, and R-D1.

He's been silent recently on e-mail though which happens sometimes.

Did you buy a " s " model or non " s " ? Just curious. I wonder if that dealer will proxy my camera for service should i have a problem after a year?

Many of these e§ay sellers publish a longish feature list, the official Epson PR pamphlet and the half of the manual - probably to distract one from the fact they do not mention any after-sale services or any warranty. And if they don't mention it, they don't offer it.

Buying such a buggy and expensive camera from them might be a kind of russian roulette. But it's up to each. I would definitely prefer to buy from more reputed sellers like Robert White or others.

The R-D1 I bought last week from Matsuiyastore on eBay arrived on Saturday. The seller said it was mint with no problems. After checking it out for most of Sunday I would agree. I either got lucky or the guy knew what he was talking about. He shipped immediately upon payment and the camera arrived in just four days. I would deffinitely do business with him again. If you buy from him, ask him to check the camera for the usual problems. He seems to be willing and able to do that.
