My Bessa R seems to have locked up. The film advance is stuck in the open position and I can't fire the shutter. Any ideas??? I know this isn't really much info but I don't really know what else to say. Thanks, Griz....
actually very gently with the open palm of your hand give the back of the camera a few gentle taps and see if this does the trick. Worked for me once when suggested by someone else. I know it works sometimes.
...also, youre sure yo didnt just reach the end of a roll. I did this once when i shot a 24 exp roll, but thought i had a 36 exp roll in the camera. hehe
Thanks for that as well. I'll try both tonight. It does still have film in it so my next option was to rwind and remove the film. I just paniced and didn't want to do anything in a haste. I just put it down and posted this to give me time to think. I tend to go nuts and break things when I react quickly....

Did you advance the lever when shutter was open during the long exposure?
It can lead to shutter "lockup"... Bessa isn't fool-proof enough to prevent such things
You may have the Bessa R shutter jam that several other people have experienced. It happens when advancing the film too quickly after releasing the shutter.
Fortunately it is easy to fix. It is explained, with photos, on the Bessa R Repair Manual wiki:
I'de like to thank all for the replies. Problem is resolved and unfortunatly it was:
IDIOT OWNER
I had a roll of fuji Superia 400 12 exposure in it that I guess I forgot I had 🙂
All is well since I did not force anything and decided the best approach was to unload first. Once I did I realised I am an idiot..... Thanks again.... Griz.
