R2 Vs R2a

I have some doubts about what camera take...i have a Bessa-R but i want to try some M mount cameras...i don't have enoght money for take R4..so my doubt is between bessa R2 or R2a..
I was thinking in a R3a..but I wear glasses and people say that is a problem for tha R3..
Please some help for my G.A.S attack!🙂

the R2 is a mechanical camera with the battery only lighting off the meter, same design as the R.

If you like your R and do not want to have an aperture priority camera the R2 is your camera.

IF you want to go alittle bit higher end, the R2A/M cameras have a slightly different build [some say stronger] with a meter that has 1/2 stop lights that allow PLANNED over & under exposure as well as what seems to me a more accurate meter [because the scale is wider,instead of over/under/on]

and of course the R2A is aperture priority.

NOW if you must have the 40MM framelines that puts you back to the R3A/M as your choice.

R=screw mount only
R2= the R in M mount
R2A=aperture priority new style meter better build (?)
R2M=manual only new style meter better build
R3A=aperture priority, 40MM framelines 1:1 viewfinder new style meter better build (?)
R3M= manual only new style meter better build and the 40MM framelines
R4A/M= even though you nixed it as an option, aperture priority or manual new style meter better build AND 21/25/28/35/50 framelines

2 camera kit R3+R4 gets all framelines for Voightlander lenses [execpt the 12 & 15]

I like the better meter, and the different body style [I think a better rewind knob/] I like the feel of the 4 better than the R/R2

least expensive the R2, if you want aperture priority then the R2A is the minimum camera for you [R3A same price]

the external look of the R and R2 is the same [execpt the trigger winder spot]

the R2A/M and on have a visually different look and feel as well as the new meter

Sell the R and get an R3 and save up for an R4. Get the 15, 25 and 40 CV lenses and then get the 75/2 'Cron and go out and shot!

I don't know if r3 will work with my glasses..I ever like the R3 with 40cv..but the problems about wearing glasses...
someone with glasses use R3??

I think Bill has a great idea, if the viewfinder REALLY bothers you, I am sure you will be able to trade it for the R2A/M in the same condition as your camera. Maybe there is somebody near you that has a 3 you can look through before you buy.

selling the R should bring the R2A/M down near the R2 price of $399

I bought my Olive R2 from memphis and I'm quite surprised at how quickly that colour grew on me. The pictures on CQ really don't do it justice. I thought the colour was absolutely hideous and I bought it with the intent of eventually repainting it silver or something. I think I'll keep it as it is 🙂

Functionally, I absolutely love the R2. My whole reason for wanting the R2 over any of the other bodies was that the shutter doesn't rely on batteries the way the R*A's do and I wanted a body with the 35mm frameline cause I knew I was going to get the 35/2.5P2. My other choices based on the 35mm frameline was either the R2M or the R4M. The R4M was out of the price range I wanted to spend and if I got the R2M I'd feel obligated to baby it because of its limited production number (I want a camera, not a collectible).

IMO, I don't think you can really make a bad choice. You just gotta weigh out which features are more important to you over others.
