R2a light seal disintegration

Hallo,

Over the new year I noticed the back door was creaking and stiff on my R2a - looking closer the foam underneath the hinge has started to disintegrate...

Anyone else had this on their Bessa's?

The camera has never been anywhere warmer than the high 20's and never colder than about -2 (celcius).

I'll check to see if the warranty covers it.

If it's still under warranty it really should be covered. I've only seen this on much older cameras like my XA2 or the mirror damping foam in my K1000 and they're both over 20 years old.

Yeah, I've sent the blokes an email just now.

True, I've only ever seen this on my GTN and an Oly RC. An early OM10 I had was fine.

The camera has been absolutely lovely up 'til now - hope they can sort it.

It's easy enough to replace if you can't get it done under warrantly. I have done my XA and GTN without problems.

I'm amazed it is happening on such a new camera though - are you sure it can't have been affected by any solvents at sometime?
