I think I read somewhere that the winding lever was designed not to 'snap back' so as to increase manual frame rate for those not using rapid winders. I find this quite a useful benefit/issue when the action in front of the screen is moving quickly. As for misallignment I've been getting by with out of whack focussing screens for at least a year now but should really get round to fixing it. I agree with mfogiel in that this is not a unique problem for Bessas.

I've been using my R3A for coming on two years solid now and honestly I cannot say a bad thing against it. It's been a real joy to use coupled with a 40mm Nokton. No shutter problems but always keep a spare pair of batteries on you just in case. The body work has scratches/signs of use, oil marks on the back cover (still can't get used to right-eye shooting) and I've also lost one of the covering caps. But none of these have affected the quality of the photograph this combination is able to capture.

I've got the R3a and love it. The 75 frame is an especially wonderful thing in that finder.
The only gripe I can manage is the meter display can be hard to see in certain conditions, causing me to press the shutter button harder, thinking I have not pushed it far enough to turn the meter display on. It's bright enough, only your eye must be in the right place to see the numbers once lit.
I have several shots of shrubs and sidewalks as a result of pressing the shutter button too far and exposing a frame.
In my case, some of these mistakes are more interesting than my intentional shots.
