As I've previously posted, I received my first set of prints back this week, but was disappointed to find tram lines on the negs. Opening up the back of the R3A, these lines seem to correspond to the metal guide rails. Am I doing something wrong / how can I prevent this?

Try running another roll through it and take it to a different 1 hour developer. I had that once and it was the processor - my first bairn's birth as well!

Make sure you don't have any stuff (especially metal shavings) inside the camera - if you bought it used, someone might have used unsupported collapsible lens too hard - which is known to leave shavings.
Also it could be the processor, or squeegee used to remove water during negative development process.
I do sometimes notice tram lines on my films (mamiya 645 / bessa), and it is definitely lab fault. I started developing films on my own and haven't seen any tram lines so far (not using any squeegee not to tempt bad luck).
