John, the viewfinder surprised me. Like I said, the 40mm framelines are right on the edge of my vision through it, but it is very big, bright and clear.
I like the display inside the finder on manual mode, I would have liked to see the aperture displayed too, but it isn't. The body is similar to the R2 in feel, but with a better, stronger rewind nob and film advance. I like the door release, a little lever at the base of the film rewind knob. A much better mechanism than pulling up on the knob itself. The shutter speed dial is definately designed for the camera to be shot in A mode. There will be no quick changing of shutter speeds with one finger with the R3a. The shutter sound is more of a lower toned "thunk" compared to the R2's "clack." I think the tone gives the impression that it is quieter, it will definately be lost in the background noise more than previous Bessa shutters.
Overall I would say it is what I expected, a bit more refined than the R2, but definately in the family.
Remember, check for that little piece of paper in the body before you play, and store it in manual mode. I put it in my bag in A with the shutter charged, and accidentally tripped the shutter. With the lens cap on it opened the shutter in B and didn't close, when I took the lens cap off it closed.
