How many people have put a deposit on the R4(A or M) so far? And how many people are planning to get one?

I like the sounds of it, so sometime after release I'm pretty sure I'll be picking up an R4A along with a 28 1.9 and later a 21 4.0 :)

I have the Ultron 28/1.9 and can't hardly wait to get my hands on an R4 (m).
Curently focusing with the whole finder field of my R2M, and not planning to get a
extra 28 mm viewfinder (at 150€).

I have not put deposit yet but I think I will have it for sure, I will get R4A first and If everything is perfect (heh) it I will get M too :D

I am leaning toward getting an R4a. It seems a great alternative to a fixed lens RF, with a fastish 35mm, AE, big bright finder, pretty good specs in my eyes. Having a 21 and 28 in the bag too will be a big boost too.

I'm undecided. I'd very much like one, and if I didn't already have an R and an L I'd almost certainly get one. But with wide lenses like the 21 and 25 I'm quite happy with guess focusing (and the 25 that I'm expecting in the post doesn't couple anyway), so it would really only be the wide frames that I'd want it for. Hmm, I dunno.

I'm back and forth on the notion of getting one. A new 25mm will improve the odds that I'll be interested.
I currently have cv lenses in 21, 35, 50 and 75.
I'm trying to picture what a R4A kit would look like?
25, 35, 50?
Now, I use an external finder on the wide end. With a R4A, I'd have to use an external finder on the long end...which I think may be a bit more difficult.

I want a Mil. Spec. R4 please...

The R4 looks very appealing on Gandys website.

However, I suspect the drifting/fragile rangefinder problem remains, (susceptible to knocks and bona-fide PJ treatment) and I suspect it hasn't been remedied in the successive versions of the R2/R3.

If Cosina were to sort this problem out--and the revision/RF tweak were verified to be stable in reviews, or by beta testers--I'd be willing to pay considerably more for the unit--or even "updated" Rs/R2s/R3s. Just my two cents.

I was testing focus with the 24th frame of a roll in my other Bessa R this morning, (the one with accurate focusing) and wondered to myself if THIS was one of the reasons why Photojournalists jumped ship to SLRs when hardware like the Nikon F came out...

I definitely want an R4; not sure about "A" or "M" yet.
I've been thinking that the R4 and a Leica M-3 would be an excellent two body kit. And no need for any external VFs then. Bessa for the wides and M-3 for the teles. I have a Canon P that may do just fine for most of the 50/90 and I could live with using an external VF for my infrequent use of 135.

Yes, I have placed the money down on a R4A. I have had no problems with my R2A and don't expect any with a new camera! Using my lenses 21/35/50 on the R4A and the 75/90 on the R2A. The 15 can be used on either body.

I think it makes brilliant sense as part of a two camera kit...I'm just not yet convinced that I want it as my one and only modern RF camera (I don't really want to carry two cameras).

Yeah, that's exactly the kind of thing I'm wondering too. I'm thinking of a two/three body kit with my R and L, and carrying something from the following...

R4 with 21, 25, or 35
R with 35, 50 or 75

So maybe R4/21 and R/35, or R4/25 and R/50, or R4/35 and R/75 (and I'd have the L that I could stick the 15, 21 or 25 on if the occasion called for it) - something along those lines anyway.

What I'm going for is R4 with with 28 1.9 mounted most of the time and M3 with 50mm 'lux, and a 21 4.0 and 90mm 'cron or similar in the bag/pockets - despite the fact that I'll be 'that guy with two cameras' everytime I shoot with both bodies, and three if I have the SLR too. :p

I like my 35 2.5 skopar, but I might end up selling it. Maybe not though, it's so compact and sharp. I'd like a 35mm 1.2, maybe I'll have to get an M4-P .72 to go with that, haha.

I'm on the fence. With the VC 21 I actually love using the external finder and scale focusing - it's by far the best kit for really quick response photography. However, I'd love to upgrade to the Zeiss 21 2.8 where the rangefinder focusing would come in handy. Hmm...

Then there's always my permanent lust for a Leica body to contend with.

I currently use a R2A. I will buy a R4A, once the camera has proven to be reliable and then I will sell the R2A and get the R3A for lenses from 50 to 90 because of the longer RF base - it is difficult to get focus right with the 50 Nokton and the R2A, even with a focus magnifier. I really like the idea of not having to use external VFs for the wide angle lenses. My line up would be 15 (still with external VF), 25 (the new one), 35 on the R4A and 50, 90 on the R3A. I don't mind lugging around two cameras - they are so light and compact that it really doesn't matter

I should have clarified that the Nokton focus problem is only an issue with large apertures - stopped down focus is no problem at all. When I got the Nokton, I was convinced that it was incredibly (and unacceptably) soft wide open, until I realized that the issue was the RF base and NOT the lens.
