Radioactive camera lenses ?

I mean radiation in any kind is dangerous...
Potentially dangerous, but try not to get too hysterical: radiation is necessary. Light and heat are radiation and I quite like my food cooked and a lamp to see it by.
Specifically about lenses, I would be worried about working in or living near the plant where they were made. Or near where ever the waste products were dumped. But not worried about even a pretty good sized collection of them.
Here's a page you might find interesting about the FED 5 and it's Industar 61 L/D lens(the lens has some Lanthanum glass in it):

Aha - oki :) Now its not that bad :)

But it would be interesting, to compare the summary radiation of the 4 objectives with the one from my Handy (W880i) ...

what causes more treat ?

And what`s about the new generation of digicams ? Do they also have radioactive materials in their lenses ?

Dear Users,

I have found some kind of wikipedia and there it is written, that the radiation level per hour is as bad as 1/5 of a chest x-ray! Just imagine how dangerous it would be to stay the whole day next to 4 or 5 such lenses !

Do they lie ? I mean, this is exactly the opposite of the facts, we realized in our discussion :)

PS: Take a look at my photos - are they good ?
