Does anyone here have any tricks to shoot in the rain while somehow protecting your g? Do you use some kind of cover, or wrap you camera with something.?

If it's not raining really (e.g., monsoon) hard, I've had some success using a cheap plastic grocery bag as a cover, leaving only the lens & RF/VF windows open--you have to be careful not to obscure the RF/VF windows or you won't be able to focus (this obviously applies to all RFs, not just the G2).

Unless it's raining hard, I don't take any special measure, just placing a filter and/or hood over the lens, carrying the camera in my hand and keeping it protected with my body as I walk by. It's a good idea to have a free pocket or open bag to fit it quickly inside if things get worse.
I love rain shooting, and fortunately (or unfortunately) it doesn't rain too hard here, just a subtle rain that can rarely damage a camera.

Take 1 Ziploc Freezer bag in the gallon size, a spare UV or skylight filter to fit camera of choice and an xacto knife.
Take the UV filter off of the camera, put the camera (with lens on) in the bag with the cameras top pointed at the bag's bottom. Make a mark in the bag by using the UV filter to make an impression in the soft plastic. Carefully cut just inside the mark for a kind of gasket. Once the circle is cut out install the filter so that it fits with the bag snuggly fit under the filter ring.
It might take a couple of bags to get it right. But it can work in a pinch.
Once home, take the camera out of the bag and store it in a nice dry place, possibly even a box with a silica gel packet to draw off humidity from the camera.
Once again, kitchen goods come to the rescue.

This is probably the most idiotic suggestion ever but whenever I get caught in a shower I instinctively hold the camera upsidown when shooting.
Almost certainly makes no sense at all but I can't help it. Maybe the ERC gets the worst of it that way. Must look silly though!

The plastic grocery bag has already been mentioned and works really well. If it's not raining too much the rim on my fedora usually keeps the rain off when I'm shooting & when I'm not I hold it in my pocket with the lens pointing down.

Back to the rain, I tend to just ignore it other than keeping my G in a pocket or inside my shirt while not shooting. No special precautions or covering. After all, if one is out shooting, it's not a real frog strangler anyway. I live in FL and get rained on quite a bit. And both of my many year old G's have not suffered.
And, remember an old used Nikonos III is dirt cheap and great for those really wet situations. That's what I use mine for.

Umbrella. Good for most rainy locations. I duck under a good overhang when it's raining hard and keep my cam in a bag when not shooting..

Back to topic ... The other method I have considered is a good coffee shop especially if it has a large frontage. I'm not joking just think either drink a good coffee whilst waiting for that light that only comes between showers or shoot from inside to the view outside. I'm not the first to think of it but quite fancy the idea.
