Had to post this one here, too, for the dude using the TLR (and some love here for xkcd, as well). Anyone here, perchance?

Thanks for the upload Harry.
Glad you didn't get into fisticuffs.![]()
With the godflags guys? Not a chance, they were amazingly nice guys. One of them was shooting an old Pentax, with a very long Soligor lens. "Shooting film, I see." was my opening gambit for conversation when we chose the spot next to them. Really great guys.

Stewart and Colbert make very little sense if you pigeonhole them as political commentators. As satirists engaging in media criticism, on the other hand, they're brilliant. This interview distills what Stewart is really up to.

I think one of the main qualifications for being a political commentator in America these day's is a complete lack of a sense of humor.
Not sure if they just hire people who weren't born with one or if they have it removed once they're hired

Peter, consider yourself fortunate in that regard.
As a non American browsing through this link, I still don't have a .......... clue what this is about. Cheers, P

Harry, great stuff. From the looks of this one, you must have arrived quite early as you seem to be as far forward as possible without having been in the VIP area. Very cool. Unlike us, I take it that you could hear everything. We finally moved out of the scrum because we could neither hear nor see well from where we were.

Thanks to everyone for posting. I was unable to attend, but this looks like great fun.

Yeah, we were pretty early, as demonstrated by this pic I took on leaving Union Station:

We got off the train at 7, wandered into a breakfast joint somewhere at around 8, and then went to the rally.

Looks like you got some good shots. I was working a corporate assignment covering part of the event, so wasn't able to do much personal shooting of the more interesting sights (also missed the last hour to copy my take to the client's laptop). The crowd, as large as it was, was smaller & less dense than the inauguration in '09.
The largest crowd I can ever remember being part of. Here are some of my images from the Rally yesterday. If you were there, please share some of your pix here, too.

Having not been at the Inauguration, I am still pretty certain that this crowd was MUCH smaller and less enthusiastic, which is probably part of the democrats' and president's problem in this election cycle. On the other hand, one of the problems in our political system in this country generally seems to be that both parties are dogs who wagged by their base/tails.

Great shots guys! I only managed about 3/4 of a roll from my Bessa and half a roll from the 'flex. Since I had originally planned my trip before the rally, it threw a big monkey wrench in my plans, and I wasn't really inspired - I just wanted to get some breathing room. There were so many people that I simply had to get away from the crowds. It was interesting seeing the masses, however. Once I develop the pics ( hopefully this weekend ) I'll post a few ( if they're any good, that is... ).

Now, the "English was good enogh for Jesus" is interesting. Because I don't know the context, this could be either a sarcastic joke/poke or just ignorance.
Frank, the context for this joke is the mistakes seen on signs at Tea Party rallies. E.g. Teabonics
Nice photos everyone! Wish I could have attended. I'm all for discourse versus the overly-simplistic sound bites that get spewed back and forth and people find comfort in.

Posted these in the Kodachrome thread, because that's what these are... but they're also from the Rally, and I just got them back today. Still scanning, but I like these:
This guy was shooting an old Pentax with a Soligor (if I'm remembering that right) lens
