I can buy a Leica CL which i can at last aford;) except its been dropped the front glass is cracked abd the rangefinder out of alinement

Can it be repaired with a screwdriver & care??Or is it and expensive repair

The camera works perfectly other wise should i buy it?

Its 110€ body only.

hi, the CL is getting cheaper, i got one around 200 usd
with everything working except the meter. I suggest you
wait and search for one since the rangefinder is integral
to the usage of the camera.

Unfortunatly what you say is good advice, its tempting though.

The CL for sale on ebay is one i almost bought but lost it to the current owner when my internet connection failed and with it my bid---which was for 10€ more than now
It went for whats being asked now unless two people have bid for it just now

I wanted it as i have a 40mm CL lens which i use with my sony NEX

Hi,

Wait, another one or two will appear and you will buy it for a bargain price. That's the wonder of ebay and on the same day within hours someone will start a bidding war and win one for double the amount...

This CL with broken range finder is now 10€ less with 6 days to go.
I found another in Holland which i bid for my bid of 124€ was the top bid untill the end
It went for 241€

The best value so far have been two i saw on German ebay both fully working and with 40mm sumicron both sold for 340€/386€--i should have bid 400€ as i wanted but would it have gone for more still

Leica are crazy prices now,im looking at Zeiss & Voigtlander lens with the idea of selling the leica lenses i have

Hi,

That's true but prices go up and down on ebay for no reason. Try in August when people are on holiday or later on when their credit card bills, from the holiday, have to be paid.

Being patient on ebay usually pays off. I've seen lots of decent cameras given away and unsold at silly prices.

Regards, David

I bought my current CL body from a gent in The Netherlands who is also an RFF subscriber last year sometime. I think it cost me $320 including shipping. It is in super condition, not a minty mint cosmetically but perfect operation, very nice looking, and recently serviced (cleaned, lubricated and adjusted).

Not super cheap, but getting a camera in excellent condition that works as it is supposed to so I can just use it rather than have to service it first is worth a couple of hundred dollars to me.
