hi, anyone around here ever rf calibrated his/her m7?? i have one that goes a bit past infinity, and since i think knowing your gear is a good thing, i'd love to be able to do it myself. if someone knows of a set of instruction (online, pdf, whatever), and is willing to share, i'd be most thankful.

Here it is ! http://www.tomwestbrook.com/Photography/rangefinder_adj.html

I haven´t done it myself, but have saved these instructions for future.

I use a fairly simple means to check the calibration. I take a ruler whose flat face is 45 degrees away from straight on, and focus at the middle (I put a think stick right in the middle to make it easier to focus). Take a photo wide open with the camera mounted on a tripod. After developing the negatives, you can clearly see where the focus point is by the clarity of the markings on the ruler (you need a magnifier or alternatively a focus finder / enlarger).

FYI, the rangefinder goes past infinity by design to allow for thermal expansion of the focusing parts. Adjusting the rangefinder won't do anything to fix that. My Leica M6 does the same thing--you get used to it.
