Rangefinder Calibration

Hi,
My GS rangefinder may be out of vertical calibration.
The distance measuring seem to be Ok but the "yellow" picture is a bit
higher than the main image (in the finder). Is there a screw or something
to adjust? I fount the infinite setting screw but I think is not the same.

I'm quite new to RF cameras so scuse me if I'm saying nonsense!

Whenever I set the horiz.alignment on my GSN (which should be identical to the GS), the vertical one is also changing.

A quick way to set rf alignment is by removing only the top shiny plate from the accessory shoe. There will be a hole below that, in the middle of the accessory shoe, through which you can access the setscrew (a bit sideways on the left, if you face the back of the camera) with a longer thinner flathead screwdriver. The screw can be seen if you shine some light into the hole. It is moving if you move the focus ring.
No need to take the whole top plate off thus.

Taking the little piece off is a bit tricky though. You have to lift it up with a sharp something at the end closer to the fromt of the camera, and push it backwards. It will stop half way due to the unflat surface of the shoe below it, so you have to press it down a bit to slide it further out.

Also, the 'yellow picture' in the gsn is quite big. Be sure you look through the middle of it, and not from too high or low angle - that might change the apparent vertical image alignment too.

I finally got GSN 2 days ago.. After cleaning up and etc, I realized that I had a same problem (vertical alignment).
Shortly, I successfully opened the shiny hot shoe portion and could see a "+" screw. I tried to make adjustment by rotating this screw (left and right), but still the RF did not get aligned. Before doing that adjustment, I set focus ring to infinity.
Did I miss something on this? Really need help .....

honestly, it worked on two gsn's i have so i don't understand why it does not do the trick on yours. Maybe it's stuck? Are you sure it's rotating (the screw, i mean)?

I am sure the screw was rotating.
I have no idea.

I noticed that whenever I rotate focus ring, only horizontal adjustment on rangefinder. Is it normal?

And the question is, when I adjust the screw from battery check lamp door, it will just adjust vertical adjustment or also will adjust horizontal one?
How can I be sure about the real distance reading by lens?

The little screw does vertical only. You do one at a time.
Set focus ring to infinity, adjust horizontal.
Then with it still at infinity, adjust vertical.

Always do horizontal first.

I finsihed my first roll on GSN.
Really impressed with the result. I love this camera.
I am considering to buy other GSNs for my collection.... 😀
I saw at recycle shop last week. It costs JPY 6,000. Very clean condition, looks like new.

does anyone know if this trick will work on a minolta hi-matic 7s? i'm noticing the same discrepency and wondered if the fix for the 7s could be as simple? thanks for your help!
