Rangefinder fondle-fest

I got a chance to check out a bunch of rangefinders at a nearby camera shop the other day. I'd never before held a Barnack Leica, but they had a black Leica II, and a chrome IIIc. I think I need one now 😀

They also had: 2 Nikon S2's, and a S3 (I think), Canon 7, rollei35, Leica CL, M2, M3, and a bunch of folders, including 35mm Retinas and a couple of Ikontas.

It's always fun to go look, but I feel bad taking up the sales guy's time, so I make my visit short.

Do you remember any of the listed prices?

Well, I wasn't in acquisition mode, but I think the CL was around $500, the LTM leicas were somewhere around $300-400. Nikons were probably around $700 or more. Next time I'm there I'll pay more attention.

Alan, sounds like you went to Seawood in the North Bay. Awhile back I purchased a like-new 35mm f2 asph from them for just under $1200. I was also offered a 21mm asph with finder for $1500, but I hesitated, and it was gone the next day. Occasionally they have great deals on consignment stuff, and a few of the folks there are really nice.
