So, I've been thinking about getting a flash for my CLE. The original CLE autoflash seems a bit limited so I was looking at some others, but they seem to be quite a bit bigger... I couldn't find a lot of pictures of rangefinders with external flashes on them, so... Show yours!
I'd love to see some beautiful rangefinder - flash combo's.

Werramatic, great with its leaf shutter

I use a Nikon SB910 in manual or auto on Leicas. TTL or remote will not work.
You should use a flash bracket , Wein safe sync, and Nikon male to male screw on sync chord. Flash and Wein are both threaded to keep in place.

I use the original bulb flash that my wife's grandfather bought with the camera in 1955. It still works perfectly, after replacing capacitors.

I don't use these anymore, mostly I use my Bessa R with a Vivitar 2600. The leaf shutter is a REAL bonus though for fill flash.

Scott,
I'm interested in doing some bulb flash photography, too.
May I ask where to get the capacitors replaced and to buy flash bulbs?

I found the capacity and voltage conveniently printed on the capacitor, then went to an electronics component store and bought a new solid state cap of the same capacity. It cost less than $5, and my boss thought I was overcharged. I soldered it in myself.
I got the flashbulbs on eBay. The battery is actually a bigger problem. I bought 505 size alkaline batteries from China, but the cases have the wrong corner radius and they don't fit in the tube, so I uncrimped the metal skin and removed it, then wrapped the cells in Kapton tape. The battery fits in the tube this way.
In actual use I have to remember to print out the distance to aperture chart. I keep forgetting to do that, and it's awkward to look it up on my phone.

Thanks, Devin! I just got the SP a 105/2.5, so there's no money left for clothes, for now. But, someday! Am really enjoying it, thanks again.

May I ask where ... to buy flash bulbs?
Second the Ebay recommendation.
I bought most of mine from old camera stores 20+ years ago. I got lucky a couple times when the guy remembered there were still a couple dusty cases in the back and let me have them for very little money.

I love the Nikons with bulb flashes! It's fun the see the modern automated flash on the Nikon S3.
I'm very curious about the Yashica with the huge flash reflector and lens. Is that just a really big strobe flash? I've never seen that model. What is it?
I have a couple of Vivitar strobe flashes old enough to be built in Los Angeles, with their LAFD fire inspection stickers on them, and a Minolta flash bought from Vivitar, also with is LAFD fire inspection sticker on it. I've got to replace the capacitors in their charge pump circuits before they become usable again. Anyone know of any schematics for these old strobe flashes from the late Sixties and early Seventies?
