The Angenieux name is one of the very finest in the optical industry. My advice is to have it serviced, use it a lot, and keep it forever.
Had a 90MM 1.8 many years ago. Nice lens, front element was always loose and had to be screwed in and tightened. More contrasty than sharp. Traded in for a 85mm 2.0 Serenar in solid brass mount. Haven't looked back.

The other main French lens manufacturer Som Berthiot also made nice LTM lenses, I have an excellent 50mm Flor.

I find if curious that they employ the retrofocus design for Leica rangefinder, since there is no mirror in the way of the rear element as there is in SLR's. I assume they just adapted the existing design for LTM. Perhaps the retrofocus design was necessary for Alpa (SLR), the lens is more common in Alpa mount as I think others have noted. There is one on eBay now that's been adapted for M mount.
