Hi everyone!

I've just bought a used Bessa R3A. The previous owner had it for just a few months and it looks very nice, almost pristine. However when I shake it I noticed a faint rattling sound coming from somewhere inside. I repeated that while holding all moving parts that are outside (I thought it might be the rewind knob), but it is still there, so now I am paranoid that something might be wrong with it. Do you have smilirar experiences perhaps? Could anyone of you please do the same as I did: hold your camera tight and shake it next to your ear?

I haven't bought any lens yet, so I can't test if the camera is fully operational.

I'd appreciate any comments on that matter,

Kind regards,

Piotrek

I have just given my Bessa T and R3M a gentle shack with no lens/no film and there is a slight rattle from both of those. Never noticed it before but it is there. Both mine work perfectly.

Rattling Bessa R3A

Hi,

Thanks for the answers. They calmed me down a bit;). I will just wait till my lens arrive and then see how test pictures look like and hope that it's all OK.;)

Cheers guys,

Things with moving parts will often make a rattling noise when you shake them.
It's probably the take-up spool or the door or something.

Same thing happens with mine. Brand new R3A. Shot 3 rolls of perfection through it so far.. 35 1.4. Don't worry, it's fine! :D

Never would have thought to do it, but I was interested in the results.

I shook the M6 Classic, M7, and Bessa R3A.

Not rattles in the Leica Ms, however did hear something faint rattling in the R3A. (By the way it works flawlessly, as do the Ms)

My Bessa I bought new, treated with respect, (put a Luigi case on it) and it rattles.... I guess that's normal for Bessa's.

Take care
