I have the latest Epson Photolier and EPSON PhotoRAW Utility v1.30A and the USB cable into my R-D1s. My mac does not recognize the camera is attached. I am unable to 'find the camera' or pull raw or jpeg files in from either the Photolier or Phtoshop CS3. Help!!?? What am I doing wrong?:bang:

I don't know how you manage to connect a USB cable to the R-D1s. I have an R-D1 and this is impossible, there is no USB plug on the camera, maybe the R-D1s is different. What you need is an external SD card reader and everything should be alright.

I have a mac like a lot of people on this forum and it works perfectly.

Hmmm. There is a very small black rectangular cover next to the SD Card slot. If you remove that small cover, there is a 4-pin to USB 2.0 jack. This is what confused me. I guess that is not for file transfer and I will seal it back up. Thanks!!!

My understanding is that this is a service port for Epson's use.

I've got an English manual in pdf format if anyone wants a copy :) It's for the R-D1 with FW u/grade which is the same as the R-D1s.

Yes, I admit even the manual does not explicitly specify the fact that there are no camera-computer USB connection (but it does not tell you to connect the camera straight to the computer either).

I would agree with Max that using a card reader is the better method anyway. My wife's Nikon digicam is much slower transferring files when connected to the computer directly, and the filetype is different too. That is, still jpeg but associated with a different application as I recall.
