OK, that's harsh. They need to be confined in a room designing their own clothing and ordered to wear it for a year.
If it was an engineering issue, you'd have perfect products all the time. There's nothing an engineer would rather do than design something that's really good and dependable.
Unfortunately, design and production budgets are constrained because of economical considerations. In other words, the (wo)man in the street doesn't want to pay for well designed stuff, they just want everything to be cheap..
Designing something properly takes time and money. Being picky in quality control means more rejects, and that is money too.. this concept doesn't go well with cheap..
Conclusion: if you want good stuff, buy good stuff..
