Just got an RD1 from a member here and it was just CLAd by Steve Choi. Does Steve normally glue down the RF alignment once he's worked on it or upon request only? I've been wanting to buy the RD1 for the longest time but prices just a few months ago are still high. Now that prices went down drastically I decided to finally jump into it. I was waiting for a good opportunity, I mean exc condition and CLAd as I am thousand miles away from Steve Choi. I also got the seller's Luigi half case with removable flap and leather strap. Can't wait for it to arrive. Btw, I will use this in tandem with the M3 for a project about famous native delicacies in my country. This will involve mostly lowliight shoots from raw materials to the final product. A yearlong project and I hope the RD1 does not give up on me.

20Babies: Yes 2GB SD is the maximum you can use. It doesn't support newer filesystems that can have volumes larger than 2GB. Not a problem really, for the time being, as 2GB cards are be sold at give away prices these days.
RF alignement off? You need to do some shots really. Use a lens (or several) that are you know focus correctly and fire away. Take notes. Try both close range wide open and inifinity shots.

Thanks, Kermaier.
Mine does come with the manual.
I have been googling and only found the manual for RD1.
Cant find RD1s.
Also my camera comes with a generic camera cap. Is there anywhere i can get the original cap?
Thanks

If you move the switch below the shutter-cocking lever to the "Q" position and rotate the jog dial on the left, you can switch between the settings "N" (normal quality JPEG), "H" (high quality JPEG) and "R" (RAW file). The menu setting for "RAW" vs. "RAW+JPEG" only controls the behavior when "R" mode is set on the top deck dial.
I think a read through the manual might be in order.

The manual is rather rudimentary anyway. I scanned through the PDF once, and then binned it. This camera is possibly the simplest digital camera to set up, and is a better camera for it. The shooting parameters are for the most part handled extra menu, with the dials and buttons. A few need setting by menu, such as B&W vs Colour. Film settings (in camera JPEG prosessing settings, incl sharpness and contrast etc) and simulated colour filters. If you shoot RAW however, none of these matter much.

You might wish to download the Epson R-D1s User's Guide here:I have been googling and only found the manual for RD1. Cant find RD1s...

can R-d1 use Nikon rf lens with adapter (any?)

I'm not sure if an adapater is available, but in theory it could be done. The Nikon S mount has a greater flange focal distance than the Leica M-mount used on the R-D1, which could give room for an adapter. You'd be without rangefinder coupling though.
Nikon S F/FD: 34.85mm
Leica M F/FD: 27,80mm

Conrad, it certainly is possible to use Nikon S-mount lenses (some but not all) on the R-D1 via an adapter, with full rangefinder coupling too. Take a look at Zenshooter's set on flickr here for lots of great photos.
Also check out the thread below for info on what lenses can/cannot be used.
