Rd1 + I-61

One of the things I really love about M-mount Rangefinder cameras in general is the wide variety of lenses that are available. On the high end of the price list are the Leicas followed by the new Zeiss lenses. They give great results. This thread however is concerned with one of the lenses that occupies the lower rungs of the price ladder -- the FSU's Industar-61LD. I think I paid, including postage, under $25 last Autumn for my i-61.

A couple of weekends ago I attended a portrait photography class at my local art museum. I took my RD1 and only a couple of lenses -- the i-61 and my CV 12mm. (The 12mm worked out ok too, but that's for another posting.)
The instructor had us pair up and use our partner photographer as our subject. My partner chose me because I had "the coolest looking camera." (Bless her heart)

I don't have a R-D1, but I'm a big fan of the I61. These are great shots -- that Industar is sharp!

You don't see them for $25 often anymore, except on ebay. Try fedka.com -- you know you'll get a good lens. For a real treat, get a Fed 3 or Fed 5 -- the Industar 61 or 61 LD came standard on these cameras.

I have Industar-22. I was surprised when I did took first sample shoots of this with rd1. Almost good as Elmar 🙂

I find that the I-22 is closer to my Elmar in its OOF areas rendering and its 3Dness than my I-50 which produces a contrastiness that is not present on the Elmar.

My I-61 will go out with me today. I'd carry it more if it weren't so big (but I guess it was cheap to make this way). I love those aperture click stops.

Yes, the I-61 is a great lens.
