Hi, I would like to purchase an epson rd1.
As a first approach I chose a 15mm Voigtlander 15/4.5 in frame m + a Voigtlander 15mm viewfinder special rd1.
Yet I was on that I needed the 21mm camera to use this light on my future camera.
I found this info on CameraQuest's webnews site. What do you think about this choice?
Is this material easy to find in France?
Is the price with fees, or not. If not, can you give me the amount of it ?

R-D-1 will cost you +/- 100 euries depending on the condition. Low end 800 for well used ones. 15mm lens is not as expensive as most. Don't buy a 15mm finder because of the crop factor you'll need 21mm one (you know about the crop factor i assume). You can get it in France or in Europe or even here. It's a good camera.

You may NOT use a 21mm camera. Google translator lied to you. Only Zeus is allowed to use 21mm camera and the light features of it. Not for mere mortals!!

I suspect that the OP meant that if he got the CV 15mm "D" external viewfinder for the R-D1, he wouldn't be able to use it in the future if he gets an M8, for which a 21mm external viewfinder would be a better fit

R-D1: 15mm x 1.5 = 22.5mm
M8: 15mm x 1.33 = 20mm

I think, however, that even on the R-D1 a 21mm viewfinder works fine, as the frame lines are somewhat conservative, such that they fit a 22.5mm field-of-view fairly well. So forget the CV 15mm "D" finder, get a 21mm viewfinder, and future-proof yourself.

Which 21mm finders can you recommend?
I have the Voigtlander 21/28mm finder, that sells for the Ricoh GRD.

I have used the 15mm Voigtlander finder with my M6 and the 15mm Heliar.

With the Voigtlander finders, I feel not comfortable. The distortion is rather big and the framing is not really precise (not parallax, but fuzzy edges and alike).

What would be the best compact, light and accurate finder to get for the 15mm on the RD1?

I've got a classic varifocal Nippon Kogaku finder (without the 28mm hard to find and prohibitively expensive 28mm adapter) for the longer lengths. Works fine for 28mm to 90mm (adjusted to 40mm (42 really) and 135mm of course).

I see, the new Voigtländer zoom finder is on sale on ebay (some German sellers have them).

The price is not so far away from the Leica Frankenfinder (near 500,- EUR).

Unfortunately, those are a costly as a new high-quality lens, which price I, for one balk at paying for an accessory. But if you have the money to burn, that's where to go for the best.

I did not find a used Zeiss 21mm finder yet. I did see a 25/28 Zeiss finder though and tried it
The New Zeiss finder is about half the price of a Leica Frankenfinder and not so far away from the new VC 15-35 mm zoom finder.

This price base rules the new single focal length Zeiss (and Leica) finders out. I like the idea of the bubble level in the Frankenfinder - if I only could find a shop, where I could try one, to verify, if I like it (size, weight and fit on Leica M6 + R-D1).
