Hi,
I have over the years, tried several ways of restoring the faded rexine on my Barnack bodies, shoe polish, leather polish etc, all of which 'polished' the rexine, but didn't actually restore the colour.
I had a brainwave this afternoon - printer ink!
It's damned difficult to remove from your fingers and clothes, so I thought I'd give it a try, and it works perfectly. I painted it on, undiluted, and it dried in about 3 minutes. A quick buff with a cloth, and the rexine looked as good as new.
It's not spirit based, so I don't think it'll do any harm to the material either.

I have for decades loved the smell of printer's ink.

The ink I used, was from a common or garden printer cartridge re-fill, nothing special.
