Reala Film type of result with Nikon D80 / D90??

In the dslr-world I use a Nikon D80 and a D90 with both fixed lenses and zoom lenses, today mostly Nikkor 24-70/2,8, 105 MICRO 2,8 and 70-300 VR. The result is great and especially the new sensor in the D90 is absolutely fantastic.

In the analogue world I use older Nikon slr´s and rf´s with Fuji Reala 100.

I know it is hard to compare but I think there the colours of the Reala photos are more "warm" and "intense" than the result I get in the digital world - especially so when taking photos in eavnings and dusk/dawn.

Anyone having played around with the setting in the dslr-world to more emulate the Reala feeling ?? Any suggestions on what you have found to work ??

It can be pretty complex matching film colour from digital as the cures are not linear, but:

1. you could bump the saturation and increase colour temp to something liek daylight rather than the auto camera setting (assume you're shooting raw

2. DXo filmpack offers a reala present (like alien skin exposure etc)

3. Lightroom 2 supports the new adobe dng profiling engine, that in theory allows you to make complex adjustments such as you comment on. I've not tried it yet, but will do in due course.

DXO Film Pack could be an option but I use jpg in order not to have to spend to much time editing at PC level....

What about settings in the camera ??

M6 Velvia,Reala,K64 shooter for many years,Nikon D200 shooter for a month,Fujifilm S5 shooter for life...i have 3 put away just in case the s5 is the last,the film modes in JPG are brilliant straight out into Adobe with good glass and i never once asked myself...6 or 12 Mpx.

Agree with Leicame above. The Fuji S5 Pro is a Nikon D200 with a unique sensor and electronics that gives a film-like look to the output. I believe it has the widest dynamic range of any dSLR on the market, mainly due to the sensor with it's honeycomb design. No need to use RAW, just use JPEG. You'll be amazed. The body takes Nikon lenses too so you can use your current investment in glass. They are being sold off cheap right now and the rumor is that Fuji was disappointed in sales and may be cutting the product line.
