Rear cap for Canon 50/0.95?

I wonder if anyone has any idea where I might find a rear cap for a Canon 50mm f/0.95 lens? This is the original lens designed for the Canon 7 / 7s / 7sz, not the TV version.

Luck may play a large part in finding one. This is the rare component on this lens,
and can run up to $250. They show up on eBay less than one per year, and don't even appear with the lenses very often. I paid a stiff price for mine, and bought it from Ritz Collectibles possibly two years ago. Your best bet is to just let the better dealers know that you need one, and hope for a decent offer.

I agree with Harry, these are as rare as hen's teeth. I lucked out years back and picked one up for a pittance (came with a beater 50/0.95 I bought for $65.00). As for where to buy one, try Kevin's Cameras. He has a lot of old vintage stuff (Though he is pricey).

On a side note, if you could figure out the dimensions of one of these you could probably have a few made by a machinist for $200. Sell the extras.

what's the reason why the caps are that rare? Was the Canon7/ 0.95/50 combo sold without it? Is it true that the cap of the TV lens version was black?
That price is for hardcore collectors!

HI,

The normal rear cap for the 50mm f/0.95 has a black matt colour inside and the one for the TV version is just plain inside no colour.

EX SA but I have dealt with the guy before with no hassles.

Most 0.95 were sold with the camera and only those sold separately had a cap.

Well ... many thanks to everyone for all the info, but rather than spend that kind of money for a lenscap I think I'll just try to roll my own out of a large plastic bottle cap or something. I only want it to protect the lens. I'm not a collector.

There's a complete lens, filter, and hood set for sale on eBay at the moment, finishes tomorrow evening (UK time). Good job (for my bank balance) its not in M-mount like the seller claims, would have bought it in an instant.

If anyone happens to have an M-mount (either original or conversion) version available please PM me, I'm trying to stave off a Noctilux GAS attack 🙂

Should be simple enough to make one out of some 0.064" sheet brass, some copper plumbing pipe, a jeweler's saw, a blowtorch, and some solder. For a LOT less than $200.
