Maybe this should be in the DIY thread but I though more here in FSU would be interested.
The J-12 is a nice lens and I have had good results using it on my M4-2. However, I always am afraid of scratching the rear element which protrudes from behind the mount. It is not a problem with LTM cameras since it comes with a rear lens cap that fits well. However, using it with a Leica M camera and M adapter leaves the rear element vulnerable. Some use a 35mm film canister and that can be OK if it does not slip off.
My solution uses two rear lens caps for M lenses. One lens cap has the top surface cut out as in the white cross section of photo J12-5.jpg. Then another lens cap is glued on top of it with epoxy or plastic solvent. See photos.
