Recent KEH holiday sales

From the now super-low stock (look at the Leica M and LTM categories, for example), it looks like they are cashing out everything they can before the end of the year.

A camera I looked at yesterday was in EX condition. Now it is listed as Bargain. Maybe they dropped it. Or just happened to restock a rare camera overnight.

They are absolutely moving the starting price around to compensate for the discounting. I've been watching them closely for the past couple of months (looking to sell my Nikon DSLR gear and buy into the Fuji X system).
If you time it right there can be deals but you need to be educated with what prices have been before and what other places are offering (B&H, Adorama, etc.) I did pick up a LN- X100T for $797 during a flash sale on November 20th. It arrived with the box and if the box had been sealed, I would have believed it was brand new. New X100T's are going for $1099 with the current Fuji sale. I have not seen that god of a deal from them since. It pays to watch closely and be patient.

KEH really isn't what it used to be with grading or pricing.
But there are good finds now and then.
I picked up the Leica IIf today with the 35% off, which worked out to be a great deal.
I also noticed that it looked like they bumped the prices of a few things before these sales.

I still buy some from them but have returned quite a few items because they werent up to standard.

A friend of mine started working with them in the early days when they were on Spring St. They had a counter and you had to ask for a particular item. The clerk would go in the back and bring up a tray with a selection of items. Prices were great back then.

Later they moved to 10st and had a showroom for a while. I picked up some great items at amazing prices. I picked up a brand new 120mm opton for my sl66. It was new in the box but didn't say Zeiss. They must have thought it was an aftermarket lens but in reality it was a Zeiss macro planar. Think I paid about $300 for it.

The store on 10th street was super. Hundreds of items you could look at and fondle! I remember seeing every version of the Nikon "F" in one case--at very reasonable prices. There was also a very large Wolf's camera a half block away--camera shoppers paradise!
