Recommendation for a "cheap" second 50mm?

I have the 1.1. It's fun wide open but has some focus shift issues. I came a cross a CV 50mm 1.5 Nokton LTM and adaptor. It's just a brilliant lens. Pretty cheap second hand now, but prices are now rising as it's discontinued. If you see one of these at a good price, don't wait, just grab it.

May be, but it is neither small nor cheap, which were my two main requirements.

To the Nokton 1.1: I use it only for very low light, but I'm pleased by its results (for the price anyway), also by its bokeh (which is sometimes said to be unpleasant), and I had no problem with focus shift so far. I think, it is a very good lens for the money, but its not for everyday use (at least not in my use-cases), because it is much to bulky and heavy.

I believe that, nevertheless, I doubt, that it would match my criteria.

Me again... Just wanted to tell you the results.

My first choice after the recommendations here and much reading would have been the Voigtländer 50mm/f2.5, but I did not find one for a reasonable price. I had an eye on some Canon f1.8, but was not sure about the condition of the ebay-listed copies.

So, in the end it became a 1957 Elmar f2.8 in pretty good condition and at a good price. The lens has some very slight haze inside, but apart from that, the lens is really nice. Maybe I send the lens to a service to try to remove the haze, but my first few pictures with the lens are really good, even with direct front light.

Does anybody know here, if it is save to collapse the lens into the M9? In the R-D1 it is not a problem, but the room inside the M9 looks smaller to me. I measured about 22mm, and the lens extends about 20mm, so the error margin is very small...

Everything I've read says to never collapse a lens in the digital M's. The exception is a 90mm macro. I wouldn't tempt fate, myself.

Depends what you mean by cheap, cheap to buy or cheap as in rubbish. For what it does the 50mm Elmar M (thats the latest version) is as cheap as you will get for a great lens, and most definitely something different to the hulking CV f1.1!

It's the Elmar LTM, but its good enough.

I collapse my Elmar into the M9 with no trouble, but you must expect the movement to add more dust than usual to the sensor.

And another one for the chrome Canon 50mm f1.8. I also bought a later one in black which has hazing inside
