Recommendation for flash on R3A

Hi

I've got a used Metz 20-BC6 but don't like the harsh of a direct flash. Would like some recommendation on getting another Metz flash, with tilt head. Appreciate your advice, please & thank you.

Any auto flash will do The Vivitar 285 and Sunpak 383 both have bounce heads and are relatively inexpensive.

It really depends on how much you use a flash. I reccomend the Vivitar 2500. Very small and lightweight, it is like a tiny version of the 285. It has a zoom head and bounce capability and it operates on only 2 AA batteries. Plus it is much smaller sitting on your R3A.

I've been using my Metz 44 MZ-2 and 54 MZ-3 flash units in the hot shoe of my R3A and have been getting brilliant results indoors! Highly recommended! 🙂

I also have the same flash. Notice that there is a gap between the flash and the wide angle diffuser? I cut out a piece of plastic (translucent) and place it in between them to act as a diffuser. Works great.

For bounce, I think you can try this. They're selling the bounceable hot shoe attachments in Cathay Photo. But you'll need a sync cord to fire the flash. Here's another type of bounce attachement that I found. http://www.ebay.com.sg/viItem?ItemId=5572898816
