Pop Photo had a great camera review in it, when they totally strip
the camera down to it's parts. I always looked forward to that.

Norman Goldberg did the strip downs. His son, Donald Goldberg, is DAG, the noted camera repair tech.

Popular Photography did an article that featured a two-page spread of my work in their November, 2003 issue!

The text. The little portrait of me was done by my son, Mack. He was only four years old when he made that photo! He used a Fuji Quicksnap disposable camera.
Very cool!

A question-When did Camera 35 quit publishing? I remember reading it a few times back in the 1970's.
Don't know when it ended, but it started in 1966 as an outgrowth of U.S. Camera. I recall reading a few issues...A question-When did Camera 35 quit publishing? I remember reading it a few times back in the 1970's.

Love the ads.Anybody like to browse thru old issues of Popular Photography? It somehow brings me immense pleasure to read them again online (thanks to Google).

Still a lot to learn and appreciate what has changed and what has not over the years. Some of the issues and articles from the 80’s are still so vivid in my memory! And I still enjoy browsing through the commercials of the mail order camera stores and pretending I can order a few things that I couldn’t afford those days.
I miss Pop Photo....

Agreed...
In the late 1960s my photographic knowledge was a clean, empty slate...learned a lot from the ads.
Started at the Brooks Institute of Photography in 1970 and was surprised both by how much I already knew...and how much more I didn't!

I miss the real Shutterbug magazine. It was the eBay of its day. You older guys know what I mean.
Shutterbug cost me a small fortune! I live in NYC and a lot of those advertisers were right downtown back then. My lack of self-control, fueled by Shutterbug ads, was extremely hard on my wallet.
I'm right in the midst of reading a 40-year Popular Photography retrospective; A big, honkin' coffee table book published in 1979 that I picked up at a used book store recently. There are some really terrific articles in there (along with some not-so-terrific ones). Once I finish I'll probably dive down these internet rabbit holes for a while. Thanks for posting!
