I bought an Olympus M1 from Japan a couple of weeks ago (on Ebay from a well known Japanese dealer) and found some corrosion on the lens mount. Buyer beware if the dealer doesn't show a photograph of all areas of concern. I did ask about the lens mount and the seller indicated it was in excellent condition - not so.
Anyhow I took on the task of removing the lens mount to replace it with a spare good one that I had. Unfortunately one of the 3 screws holding the lens mount would not undo and the screw head became damaged to a point where the screw driver would not stay in the slot. I managed to grind the screw head away and remove the lens mount. I now have the task of removing the "headless screw" from the camera body. There is not enough of the screw shank to get hold off to remove it.
Any thoughts on how to remove the screw threaded section other than drilling it out and retapping or using a Dremel to cut a slot in the screw shank.
I have noticed on a lot of M1's that the screw heads are badly damaged from the task of undoing them.
