I've got my deposit on an M8 and in anticipation I rented an M6 with a 35mm Sumilux for the weekend. I just finished a rold of TMAX 400 and Kodak Portra VC 160.
Boy was it fun. That little camera is so easy to carry everywhere compared to my 1DMarkII and 24-70 2.8L. I enjoyed the freedom of having it around my neck, taking a quick shot without attracting attention. And boy is it well built. I don't feel concerned about it bumping up against something. I've had my lens hood on my 24-70 ripped off by a bouncing ball and had to spend $500 to repair the lens and flash shoe. This little lens seems extremely rugged.
I was concerned about all the manual controls but it really was as easy I've heard. Sometimes I forget to set the shutter speed before taking the picture, but it wasn't often and I'm sure I can learn the habit.
I'm used to having immediate feedback from my digital camera. It sure is a long feedback loop to find out how I did. I have one more roll to go through and turn them in for developing. Can't wait to see the results.
