I'm going to Tuscany for a couple of weeks...! I don't want to travel with my tripod; does anyone know if there's a shop in Florence that will rent a tripod?
Thanks,
Dale

Would it suit your purpose to bring along a lightweight folding walking stick of the type than has a tripod mount at the top? I use them with a small ballhead mounted. They can really help. And they are sold in both camera stores and outdoor outfitters.

Hm, sounds like that might be functionally similar to a monopod? I'm looking to include long exposure night shots, so really need a tripod.

As a fallback, I always take my Ultrapod (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/239963-REG/Ultrapod_PD02010_2_Black.html) with me. The strap lets me attach it to quite a few objects at various heights and I can also usually find something to put it on at a regular height. It only weighs about 4oz. and fits in anything. I also like to take night shots.
