repair advice on x100s

my 2 year old dropped my x100s while running with it and when the camera turns on none of the screens come on.

i took it to a camera shop to have it be sent to Fuji and i was just notified that the repair will cost $580 -- which is absolutely shocking to me.

is it even worth fixing it at that price? i'm thinking about listing it on ebay for parts for a $100 and then i'm sure i can find a gently used one for about the price of the repair, or honestly go a completely different route to a6000 or something similar, i'm genuinely disappointed not only in the repair cost but how poor the camera seems to be in terms of any shock protection.

for context, this is my play camera to my 5dm3.

Yeah, I wouldn't repair it. Just buy something else or another one. As far as shock protection... cameras survive falls like this often, but once in awhile they don't. They aren't made to have people drop them.

Sell it for parts on ebay and get another one or the next model. All it takes is a drop on the right spot to kill everything, that's the case with any camera.

Yeh .... I'd eventually sell it for parts. Or maybe cannibalize the lens for some other use.
Painful but true - the "shock worthiness" of any camera does depend on exactly how it hit the ground.
If you can live with just "okay" everyday image quality, and want good shock resistance, look at something like the Fuji XP90 or other brands.

A used X100S in good shape can be had for around $600, depending on condition and seller. That seems a more logical option than paying the excessive repair estimate.
