Hi Folks,

I just bought a beautiful Rollei 35SE from another member of RFF, and I have decided to believe the seller that the "excellent" condition Rollei did not have any issues when it left his hands. That said, it arrived to me with the light meter/led's not functioning. Occasionally the LED's will light up as I am taking the picture, but it's certainly not giving me a usable meter reading. So, do you have any suggestions for where I might get this repaired? It's such a heavy, sturdy camera, with a nice lens, that I would really like one with a working meter, if possible. Suggestions welcome. Thanks.

I suggest you contact Krikor Maralian -- http://www.krimarphoto.com/. He specializes in Rollei, the TLRs and the 35s in particular. He CLA'd my 35 SE a couple of years ago -- it didn't need meter work but I imagine he will be able to put yours right.

Forgive what may be an obvious question about the meter, but your description made me wonder: You do know that the LEDs will only light up when you push the shutter button down, correct? They don't light up on their own. I will agree that they sometimes don't light right up but require a little "massaging" of the button sometimes to get them to light.

Thanks for the referral. Yes, I realize the buttons don't light up on their own. They are supposed to light up upon half-press of the shutter button--that doesn't happen. If they light up at all, it's as I am actually taking the picture, and by then of course it's too late.

Harry Fleenor at Oceanside Camera Repair is great. I have done business with Harry for many years with TLR, SL66, and Rollei 35's... he recently serviced my 35SE. Harry is very highly regarded on Marc Small's Rollei list. Contact info below:
