Replace my D700?

I have had my Nikon D700 for almost 7 years and it is by far the best DSLR
I've ever had. Is there any Nikon or other maker out there that would be a
wise replacement. Especially in regard to useable ISO, faster focus, ease of use, etc. Anything you can input is good for me.

I've had a D700 for eight years but feel no inclination to change it. Mainly because it's replacements D850 etc are only slightly improved and lighter.

My dilemma will be whether I kick my Nikon cameras and lens into touch when the D700 dies. For now it offers far faster focusing than my XE-2 and a completed different set of lens options (longer and faster glass) . I guess you have to ask yourself in what way the D700 is deficient before upgrading and particularly before considering a shift in system manufacturer.

I mainly use my 240 these days Tony but would happily go back to my D700 if the 240 unexpectedly became toast. It would be my first choice and that includes my D4 which has never really enamored me.

So for me the answer has to be stay with what you know and have been using happily since you got it. 🙂

I am happy to stay with mine. It's one of those tools I can always count on. I have tried the D3, D4, and the DF, but none have motivated me to get rid of my D700. It's the pick up truck in my bag, no matter how old it gets, it remains useful.

Thanks for the input. I must agree with you all, it is better to keep it.
I have been looking for another camera and no luck- they aren't any better.

Run it till it drops, Tony! I've never read any bad press about them, and some folks get way over the announced shutter actuation life by quite a bit. I'm hoping my recently acquired D300s is in the same class. (I was going for the D700 but the budget said otherwise).

My feeling is pretty much what the others have said. There is no need to upgrade. The D700 is a fantastic camera and, for me, it's the main camera I use for everything, and it does most everything very well.

Let's face it, there are lots of things that a Leica, as great a camera as it is, doesn't do very well. The D700 will do all of those things and more.

Same here. I have the D700 and D300, and won't part with either; nor do I want anything "better."
