Is there an ideal replenishing rate for fixer? I guess there are a lot of factors to consider, but I'm wondering if anyone has found that replacing x mL of fixer per 35mm roll makes their fixer last longer.

The "textbook" heuristic was to replenish fixer when it takes twice as long as the published time for the film to clear. For example: if you're using a rapid fixer and the data sheet claimed that film should be cleared in two minutes and the film hasn't completely cleared in four minutes, replace it with a newly mixed solution.
I don't know if this still holds, but I cannot imagine why it shouldn't?
Of course, I just realized that you were asking a different question ... sorry about that.

Depends upon, among other things, the fixer you are using. If Ilford their data sheets give you guidance on replenishment. Given I am still on the 5 litre container of Hypam I bought 3 years ago, chucking rather than replenishing, I doubt it's going to make a material difference to your bank account whichever route you take.
