I've been looking for reputable online dealers of used Leica gear. So far I've come across Leicashop and Schouten Select. I'm primarily interested in excellent customer service, ease of buying, detailed photos, and reasonable prices.

Any others some of you have dealt with I might want to add to my list?

Criteria:

Online
Quick response to questions
Accept Paypal
Detailed photos
Reasonable prices
Quick shipping--well packed of course

I've dealt with Leicashop and was very happy with my purchases. I'd like to know more about Schouten and others.

This is for US shops.

Popflash was great to deal with when I bought a used camera. Would definitely use again for new and used.

I also recently bought a late model 75 Summilux from Igor Camera. His email responses were a bit slow, though it was around Thanksgiving. After I stopped being lazy and picked up a phone, I had all my questions answered immediately and a whole batch of fresh pictures emailed. Shipping was quick and the lens was well packed. His price beat private sellers by quite a bit, though it was missing it's built in hood ($175 replacement charge). However, I saved WAY more than $175 off of similar lenses, more like $1k.

I'd definitely recommend him.

I agree about popflash. I've bought alot of stuff from them, lately a M7.

I stumbled upon Schouten and was amazed by their inventory and pictures. Email response was quick and friendly.

Why pictures? I've come across many online dealers who have a list and price, but no pictures. It would quickly get my attention if I could see something!

Kevins Camera has quite a large inventory, decent pictures, and usually pretty good communication. But prices are not reasonable on most items.

Collectcamera is new to me, but collectiblecameras I've bought from too. I agree, very helpful and great communication on the phone

Thanx for the first one.

I've only did one purchase witch schoutenselect (a summicron 40), but based on that experience I can highly recommend them.

Greetings,

Dirk

Tamarkin Camera is easily one of the nicest shops I've dealt with. Prompt with emails, very nice over the phone, and fast with shipping. They don't post photos of the item on the website but will send you a few pictures if you email them.

I've never spoke with Igor from Igor Cameras on the phone, only email but he was very prompt and helpful. Does not always have pictures to send even if you ask. I feel he tends to optimistically rate items.

Ahem. 🙂

If anyone wants detailed photos of any gear, just drop me a PM. I have a light tent and LED lighting right next to my desk.

I'll be setting up a twitter account shortly. Any new gear we receive will listed there, and may sell before it ever hits the webstore.

Also, some of our gear goes straight to ebay. Watch ebay seller 'photografix.'

Also Youxin Ye usually has some bodies he's CLA'd for sale, you can email him to see what he has. He has some on eBay as well at any given time.

I just got a nice user M3 from Dale Photo in FL, they always have photos of the used bodies up.

Kohs Camera, run by Jimmy and his wife, great people, and they'll photograph the gear youre interested in for you if it's not already on the site.

KEH is always good, no photos usually but they'll describe the gear to you over the phone, at least they used to. I never have asked, I buy a lot from them and theres never a problem and a great return policy if there is.

Or just check this out...lot more listed:

Robert, I was interested in sites that deal in used Leica gear. Checking Precision I didn't see too much used Leica inventory, especially lenses.

I will say this though, anyone reading this thread, Robert is one of the nicest persons to deal with. Bought and sold much gear. Told him I ws looking for a 35 cron, or Summarit, and I came away with a beautiful V4 cron 😉
