So I'm sitting here…typing. Obviously.

I intended to go out for a walk, but I couldn't decide where. I'd only just been all around Causeway Bay and Central a day or 2 ago, and…it's not that I don't have the motivation to get photos; I want to make them, but I'm just sick of how small and cramped up Hong Kong feels.

I mean, in Venice, I could've stood around Piazza San Marco for hours and shot rolls…just because it's more spaced out, and I suppose people are "out" more in Europe than Hong Kong(?)

Or maybe I need change. Desperately counting down the days till I leave for Vancouver for Christmas.

I can't be the only one who gets this every so often, can I? I can't even be productive in this state — I'm just so…bored. 🙁

I can't believe that - in HK ?
Grab your camera, an Octopus card and ride the metro!
… or go to the cramped shopping streets in TST - you always get a shot or two … or walk the Peak … or wait until lights off and do some low light city stuff.

When I am in HK, the hotel room really only is to get a fresh shower and to store luggage.
I can't remember, that I ever used a hotel bed ;-)

I've never been to Hong Kong, but the views I've seen in photos from The Peak are some of the best cityscapes I've ever seen.

I'm in London and sometimes feel the same way, but I know it's just because I don't want to leave my comfort zone of certain areas and certain types of photography.

Maybe go somewhere in Hong Kong you've never been and take photos of stuff you never have before?

I stay there 2 months out of the year during the summer, I can sympathize. Some days you just don't want to be out in that concrete jungle. I'd rather stay in my flat and have the air con running. That said, I would rather be there shooting right now than in Vancouver. It's 6 degrees, the sun sets at 330pm, and the damp cold goes right to your bones. =)

I find it hard to be inspired by anything other than people these days, so most of my photography is of candids. I don't know what's so different about Venice that had me so inspired when I was there. Probably the wide open squares and the more open way of life.

I love the cold, not sure about the damp though 🙂

No, I get that way almost every weekend. I end up not wanting to go to certain places because I've been there before, or because I think there'll be nothing to take pictures of.

In the end, I force myself to leave the house and go for a walk. Usually I end up with some pictures I like at the end of the day 🙂

It's called photographer's block. 😀

I get it every so often. Usually when I find myself mooning about new equipment, that's when I realize: I don't need new lenses, I just need to get out and take pictures. For me, it helps to simply walk about a less familiar neighborhood to see things in a new light...
