Funny - I am quite sure that Batters himself said somewhere that he is NOT doing ot as fetish photography, and his intentions have nothing to do with feet fetish 🙂
I have one of his books, it's quite umm...special and entertaining🙂
Maybe the above i've read right in his book somewhere.
Apparently many of his models were prostitutes who would have preferred to do the regular job instead of photographing their legs 🙂)

Well....maybe he didn't call it fetish (I don't like the word either) but it was sure 100% "leg art" and he also wasn't kidding around with putting Keds Sneakers on models wearing garter belts and stockings.....that's just kinky and a memorable style of Elmer's photos 🙂

The amount of work that has gone into each image is fantastic.

So, do you prefer these over your film shots? Lately, I find that I am not enjoying/satisfactory shooting with the M8.

I really enjoy your photos you posted. I'm especially glad that you've included lenses used.

I will have an M8 today and use Nikkors mainly with my other M's, so it's nice to see images from Nikkors on a M8.

Yes, William I've found since day one, that the two vintage Nikkors that work the best for my purposes are the 1950 #5005 SC F1.4/50 and the legendary HC f2/50, seems Nikkor LTM and M8 are a real perfect combo, the colors are always a surprise and the only drawback is the dreaded "Nikkor Ghosting" which I sometimes get with the SC even when using the factory hood, sometimes light get's trapped in the lens the WRONG WAY and there's "Ghosting"....looks almost like shutter drag/leak from an LTM Leica ~ which is impossible at least with a new M8!

OK Tom, as you know I'm a fan of yours (very much), but those pantyhose/garter holders are not retro. And if you need some flash photography help I'll be more than happy to help but the digital color balance is way off on both. I really like the feel but detail, details, details..........

I wasn't going to spend tons on time on this but this is just Picasa3 color correction:

Please understand I DON'T APPRECIATE when anyone adjusts my work with any sort of photoshop, and then resposts it anywhere online........ I post this here because it's my work and how I see it is how I finish it........there is NO FLASH, it is all done with hot lamps and sometimes the M8 needs adjusting/programing per each lens and there's interesting shots and strange color variations per different lenses.

The Girdle and Stockings are as made 45 years old, open bottom girdles date from as early was the mid 1930's and colored ones from the 1940's onwards (SORRY, I TAKE MY VINTAGE LINGERIE SERIOUSLY!)......as for the picture, the color balance is how I finished the work, it's very representative of how the Nikkor lens renders on the M8 and I like it, I don't invite people to pull my work offline and retouch or photoshop it! ~ Please refrain from doing this in the future and remove that photo please :/

Yeah, I hate to sound like I'm on the "rag" guys.....just I guess it would have been better if someone wants to "try" or a suggestion on something just ask, I guess, please 😉

And my works all over the place in terms of colors, the old fashioned photos were always showing different color curves, Leica, Canon and Nikkor glass all shoot differently on films.....Kodak was always more red/orange and Fuji more green/blue add that to vintage lenses and you do have shifts.

Working with the M8 and trying to get it to "look" like film is a challenge, not always easy 😉

Love your shots Tom. They are indeed representative of the look of that time. The color variations are spot on and I know because I've seen and probably still have some of those old magazines. I also like the Nyssa Nevers shot. She's got a great face and while you didn't see a lot of Asian women in those old shots, the style is consistent with that era.

Well, I started all this cuz of an ex-girlfriend.....she used to wear the stuff all the time for me and she started me on collecting it for the use in photoshoots, (that has now but me at an added advantage among Modern Day Retro Photographer's while I have the wardrobe already the models only need styling).

Back then in the late 1980's I wasn't a Photographer, I was a collector (mostly 1950's Leica Screw Mount) and she was the driving force behind my getting in back of a camera and shooting the PinUp stuff.......

I hocked/traded all my LTM stuff then for a M6/ f2/50 Cron set up back in 1991 and the rest is history..... 🙂

Yes I did! But stupidly, I sold it and am in search of another. I do have a SC 50/1.4 in Nikon S mount I use on my M's. Just did some quick shots on my new to me M8--lovin' the combo.

I also have a LTM mount Tanaka Kogaku 50/2 that renders like the Tokyo lens you sold me.

Yeah, that "Tokyo" was the BEST f2/50 Nikkor I have ever used.....it was one and at home on my IIIC K ~ sadly I sold it when I bought that Tower 35 kit I found ~ it's all mint and the lens shoots fantastic, but the 1957 HC renders alot differnetly than the 1950 HC did, I miss that lens, whoever got that one, got a real winner!
