NEW55 FILM LAUNCHES NEW FUNDRAISER FILM PRODUCT 1SHOT(tm) READY LOADED NON-INSTANT FILM
Ashland, Massachusetts, April 20, 2015 -- New55 FILM announced today that it would offer a special "Yellow Dot" edition of a ready loaded non-instant film named 1SHOT(tm), to supporters of the New55 FILM Kickstarter effort. 1SHOT is a ready loaded sheet film system much like the Readyload and Quickload systems of the past, but it is loaded with with New55 FILM's cubic grained N105 emulsion, called "Atomic-X," which is also used in its under-development instant film. New55 FILM is supplementing its product offerings with R3 MONOBATH DEVELOPER and now also with 1SHOT ready loaded sheet film while the project continues development of New55 PN Instant Film, which is more complex.
The 1SHOT emulsion is a panchromatic 4X5 sheet film product first sourced by New55 FILM project CEO, Sam Hiser, who worked with and visited the Shenbei factory in China which manufactures X-ray, photographic, and roll films for industrial and consumer markets. Hiser negotiated the bulk production of New55 FILM-specific N105 for the Kickstarter effort. The emulsion is similar to that used in the old Polaroid Type 55 product which has been long discontinued. Over a series of tests done by the New55 FILM team and others, N105 was used and processed in both instant and non-instant developers, including monobaths, with good results.
Said Bob Crowley, who founded the New55 FILM project in 2010, "Supporters had asked if they could benefit from the film packaging system we created for New55 FILM also in a ready loaded, non-instant product. The1SHOT system fits the conventional Polaroid 545 holder which was traditionally used. With some extra components that were supplied to the New55 FILM effort, we are able to supply 1SHOT in small quantities." Crowley remarked, "I am not convinced there is a large market for a ready loaded sheet film, but we'll soon see."
Hiser, added "We're happy to launch this new film product, even if it is a non-instant film, because 1SHOT makes large format photography more convenient and more accessible to a larger number of people. That fits the mission very well."

The price of the 1SHOT Yellow Dot fundraiser edition is intentionally high and the supply is limited. If it demonstrates market strength, the Team will consider making 1SHOT a regular product in the New55 FILM catalog.

I believe this is a one off and not a regular item they'll be selling. It's meant to help fund further development of New55 Instant film. Would be nice if it was something they kept producing and selling

They are sold out, but the New55 Facebook page says that they are waiting on components to assemble more.

ah, ok, stand corrected. if this becomes a stocked item, it should make travel a bit better and mean lighter weight since you're only carrying the Polaroid holder and film.

If there is a modest demand moving forward, I would think that producing these is a no-brainer.
The sleeves are simpler versions of the ones they are producing for their instant film, include the same film, and can be used in the same film holders. It is supportive of their entire infrastructure.
